A polish by any other name

April 12, 2015

In March I visited Washington, DC, and Williamsburg, VA, for a week (more on that in another post). While on the trip, I got a great haircut from my long-ago hair stylist, the owner of Primary Colors in Alexandria, VA (a suburb of Washington). I recently visited the Hair Connection salon to show off my new ‘do to my regular stylist, Jessica.

Because she was mixing colors for a client in the back, I had time to peruse the nail polishes for sale at the front desk. A bright periwinkle caught my eye, and — as I always do — I flipped the bottle upside down to read the name of the polish: “Using My Maiden Name.”

Many readers will recognize that for my nom de plume I am, in fact, using my maiden name.

I almost never buy salon-priced nail polish, but the name cinched the deal.
