Lavender trumpet vine peek

May 17, 2015

The lavender trumpet vine (Clytostoma callistegioides) has three-inch-wide trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom in pairs. The lavender flowers include intricate purple veins. The name for the genus is from the Greek words ‘Klytos’ meaning “beautiful” and ‘stoma’ meaning “mouth,” referring to the beautiful shape of the flowers. This vine is a vivacious evergreen that will clamber over any strong-enough support. Take a peek at two trumpet beauties.
